As the owner and founder of Slow Living Solutions—and your [soon-to-be] mentor

—you’re probably wondering how I found myself in this line of work and why my background makes me uniquely qualified to guide you on your life crafting journey. Let me take you on a little trip through my story.

The Origin of Life Crafting: From Artist to Advocate

My journey into Life Crafting is deeply rooted in my beginnings as a fine artist. Growing up immersed in the arts, I faced a chorus of voices warning me that pursuing art as a career was a fast track to financial instability. (Spoiler alert: they were wrong.) These external pressures taught me early on to settle for "safe" choices, believing there were limited paths to success—a notion I’ve since debunked.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Film and Visual Media from Syracuse University, where I learned to think critically and intentionally about how my work communicated meaning. Every end-of-semester critique drilled into me the importance of understanding the “why” behind every decision:

  • Why is the woman’s sweater red?

  • Why use an over-the-shoulder shot for this scene?

  • What does the lighting convey about the actors’ dynamic?

Lesson 1: The Power of Reflection and Intention

This process of combining intuition, reflection, and reasoning became second nature to me and is now a cornerstone of the work I do at Slow Living Solutions. To truly transform your life, you must critically evaluate your choices, behaviors, and the results they bring.

Even when I transitioned to a corporate career, this lesson stayed with me. Whether in an interview or on the job, how you tell your story—especially to yourself—matters. I realized I was constantly chasing validation, trying to prove my worth through external measures like titles, salaries, and societal expectations. But no matter how hard I tried to fit the mold, I couldn’t ignore the disconnect between my values and the systems I was part of.

Lesson 2: You Reap What You Sow

One truth became abundantly clear: what you pursue with intention, you achieve.

  • When I was an artist, I earned a residency, gallery representation, and sold pieces to private collectors.

  • When I took up weightlifting, I gained strength, confidence, and resilience.

  • When I climbed the corporate ladder, I achieved the title, the six-figure salary, and the leadership roles.

But despite these successes, I felt unfulfilled. I was running large-scale operations for billion-dollar companies that didn’t align with my core belief: people come first. I wanted to create environments where collaboration and innovation thrived, but I was stuck in systems that prioritized profit over people.

And then, life threw me a curveball. My father was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and his timeline was heartbreakingly short.

Lesson 3: The Wake-Up Call

Watching my father wrestle with unfulfilled dreams at the end of his life was a turning point for me. It forced me to confront my own mortality and ask: Am I spending my life on what truly matters?

The answer was a resounding no. I was pouring my energy into pursuits that left me frustrated, undervalued, and misaligned with my values. I had to face the hard questions:

  • What do I genuinely enjoy?

  • What brings me joy?

  • What does “good” look like for me?

Once you see the cracks in your life, you can’t unsee them. You can’t rationalize or trade off your way into believing you’re happy when you’re not. I realized I had to make a change—a big one.

Lesson 4: Designing My Dream Life

The pivotal question that changed everything for me was this: What would my dream life look like if anything were possible?

From there, I reverse-engineered a roadmap to align my life with my values. And when I commit, I go all in. In a matter of weeks, I:

  • Bought a house in a place I’d never been before.

  • Quit my job.

  • Started my own company.

  • Changed my name.

  • Built a life that reflected my values—a quiet home in the mountains, a garden to nurture, and a business where I help others achieve personal transformations they once thought impossible.

I became the CEO I always wanted to be, building a team that reflects my belief in meaningful work and shared talent. And most importantly, I reclaimed my time, my energy, and my joy.

Your Hero’s Journey Starts Here

Now, I’m not saying you need to drop everything and start over tomorrow. That’s not a requirement for creating your dream life. But what is required is clarity. You need to get crystal clear on your values, articulate what you want, and compare it to where you are now. Then, you have to be willing to shift your priorities, time commitments, and habits to align with your vision.

This is where I come in. At Slow Living Solutions, we use proven frameworks to help you reflect, decide, and build incrementally toward a fulfilling life. Together, we’ll embark on your hero’s journey, slaying the proverbial dragons and reclaiming control over your quality of life.
